A major regeneration project, worth an expected £100million has just been approved, said to be a ‘key gateway’ in a Birmingham neighbourhood.
In Birmingham’s Creative Quarter, near Digbeth, Phoenix Yard is being developed, transforming brown-field site land into a vibrant community. The plans include 205 residential units and an additional 405 hotel rooms. In addition to the new residential space, a generous public realm has been outlined, to create a ‘central square of activity, and a space for social interaction and cohesion’.
Close to the Smithfield Birmingham project and HS2, the bullet-train connecting Birmingham to London in just 49 minutes, this area is set to be established as Birmingham creative quarter.
