A new economic growth zone, named the ‘Central Edge’ project in the West Midlands was recently revealed at UKREiiF 2025. Set to provide a £582M boost to the UK’s economy, the new growth scheme project has been described as a “once in a generation proposition building on the success of the UK’s most successful enterprise zone”.
Building on the success of the i54 business park, home to international businesses such as Jaguar Land Rover, the new scheme will create up to 14,700 new jobs, delivering a combined £582M GVA to the UK economy.
The economic growth zone is described as a ‘unique business ecosystem’ giving a range of partners and investors access to advanced manufacturing innovation-led research and development, and green/sustainable technologies.
“The Central Edge will be an international exemplar area for innovation, green economy, advanced manufacturing and logistics, delivering good transformative growth at scale and pace and creating thousands of jobs.” – South Staffordshire Council Corporate Director Place and Communities, Annette Roberts.
The project announcement underpins the major focus on Birmingham and the West Midlands, as the area transforms into an economic powerhouse. Birmingham’s mass regeneration is taking place across the entire city, establishing the city as a clear choice for UK property investors.
