Recently approved by the city council, Birmingham’s metro expansion will provide new, direct links to the east of the city and to the £3bn Sports Quarter development. Offering fantastic access to new areas will create new opportunities for the city residents, and the expansion is designed to ‘unlock the full potential of the east’. Discussed at UKREiiF 2025, Birmingham’s metro expansion plays a vital role in supporting the city’s regeneration projects.
£107m of funding for the Birmingham metro expansion has just been approved, of which West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker said he had fast-tracked more than £62m to enable the phase to start this year. “This line is about more than transport, it’s about connecting people in Birmingham and the Black Country to opportunity. It’s already drawing in major investment and helping to breathe new life into this part of the city centre.” – Richard Parker.
Also supporting HS2 transport links, the new Birmingham metro expansion will provide a direct connection to HS2 at Curzon Street and support regeneration in Digbeth. According to approved maps, a new station will be created close to Edition Birmingham.
Edition Birmingham is a strategically located residence, with over 12,000 high-earning professionals working within 1km of the development. The new metro expansion is another benefit for Editions residents, creating new accessibility and connectivity for the rest of the city.
