Committing to further growth

A major move for large broadcast company BBC is in the works as the corporation commits to increasing investment in Birmingham, relocating from The Mailbox, to a purpose-built regional hub at The Tea Factory in the city centre.

This new regional hub will see shows such as MasterChef, SilentWitness and central radio shows in production from this new centre.

Creating more than 900 new jobs, this move will see an additional £282 million in gross value added to the West Midlands region by 2031.

BBC Director, Tim-Davie, explained the reasons behind the move: “We believe in making world class content [from Birmingham], putting the people and the place at the epicentre of the creative industries while reflecting their stories.”

Birmingham is well established as a creative hub, home to five universities and named the UK’s second city. Global companies, such as the EY and Goldman Sachs, have also committed to the city by bringing huge investment and attracting talent from all over the country. This sets Birmingham up as a career hotspot – subsequently making the city an excellent choice for UK property investment.
