02/03/26

Globally recognised as the largest dog show in the world, Crufts returns to Birmingham this week.

More than 18,600 dogs are expected to descend on the NEC Birmingham this week, with many competing amongst a range of sports and shows. This year, dogs are entering from over 60 countries, with dogs and owners travelling from as far as New Zealand to attend the show.

Crufts first began in 1891, and was originally held in London before moving to Birmingham in 1991 for its Centenary Year, where it has remained since.

Competitors can enter a range of competitions, ranging from showing classes for their dog breed type, to obedience class and heelwork to music. Canine sports are also highly popular, with sports such as Flyball and Agility proving to always be fan favourites. To be able to compete at Crufts, entrants will have followed a rigorous qualification process and prior competitions.

Major events such as Crufts boost the region’s economy, as tens of thousands of visitors flock to Birmingham.
