Smithfield Birmingham is a large historic site positioned in the heart of Birmingham’s city centre. The ambitious regeneration plans are set to transform over 40 acres, including the creation of 3,000 new homes, 2m sq ft of commercial space and huge areas of public realm including parks and active play areas. The regeneration project is worth £1.9 billion. 

Creating 8,000 new jobs, the regeneration is set to enhance the community, and is one of the most significant projects currently in the UK, with the Crown Estate committing full support.

The Crown Estate looks to Birmingham

The Crown Estate is an independent company that belongs to the monarch for the duration of their reign. The company boasts a portfolio of property worth £16 billion, spanning across the country, including London’s renowned West End. 

The Crown estate has entered Birmingham’s property market with Smithfield Birmingham, marking a symbolic shift into UK property, King Charles’ company has committed to taking a 50% stake in the Smithfield Birmingham project. A sure vote of confidence, this historic move highlights the major growth trajectory Birmingham is embarking on, reaffirming Birmingham as a front-runner for property investment in the UK.
