This weekend, Birmingham’s famous Christmas Markets return to the city, with dozens of stalls dotted across the city centre.
Commonly known as the largest authentic German Christmas Markets outside of Germany and Austria, the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Markets are some of the most popular in the country, and are often ranked amongst the best to visit.
The first record of the original Christmas Market in Frankfurt dates back to 1393, with the Birmingham Christmas Market running since 1997. With millions of people travelling to the city every year to visit, the market is said to add £350 million to Birmingham’s economy.
Not only does the market feature various eatery stalls, with traditional food and drink, it also boasts multiple local traders, offering crafts and gifts for visitors to purchase. Entertainment is also provided at the markets, with a live German band and local choirs. The markets are set to open on 1st November 2025, and will run up until Christmas Eve.
