High-Speed 2, known as HS2 is a £106 billion railway line that will form the ‘backbone of Britain’s transport network’. 

Described as creating a ‘corridor of economic and social opportunity’ for rail users throughout the West Midlands and the South East, HS2’s upcoming arrival is set to transform Birmingham. Cutting the commute time to London to just 49 minutes, Birmingham will become an attractive commuter hotspot for the millions of Londoners seeking more affordable rent. 

HS2 is creating thousands of new homes and jobs, with over 28,000 people already employed for the construction. HS2 is set to complete in the coming years, with the project cementing Birmingham as a top city for UK property investment, as the local economy will receive a huge boost. 

With the influx of Londoners looking to base themselves in Birmingham, the demand for high quality amenities is also beginning to increase, as amenities comparable to the level seen in the capital is now expected. According to JLL, over 51% of tenants now expect on-site leisure facilities, such as swimming pools and gymnasiums, and that renters are now willing to pay a premium to live in highly-amentised homes. Residences such as Edition Birmingham, that boast the highest level of amenity and luxury seen in the city, are proving to be in high demand amongst investors
